Oil & Gas Sector UT – Thickness Kit

Oil & Gas Sector UT – Thickness Kit

FlawTech Oil & Gas Sector UT – Thickness Kit is a training and testing kit designed to qualify technicians in thickness measurement and corrosion evaluation according to API QUTE-TM and ASNT ISQ O&G-UTT-4 Rev 3 protocols. The kit contains samples in plates and pipes of various thicknesses, coated or uncoated, with defects that simulate real industry problems.

Key features and benefits

  • 16 specimen samples – each with one type of defect – for selective training in material simplified to one defect type per component.

  • Thickness variation from 0.25″ to 1.50″ for plates and tubes, with both glossy and coated surfaces (epoxy) for realistic corrosion simulation.

  • Defects include corrosion or erosion, mid-wall laminations, as well as the possibility of a "blank quadrant" without damage for reference.

  • Samples are labeled with individual serial numbers, and host-side cover plates can be removed for inspection.

  • Complete documentation including certificate, CAD drawings, material test reports and measurement/test equipment certificates.

Technical specifications

  • Material: carbon steel (A36 plates and A106B pipes)

  • Number of samples: 16 pcs.

  • Sample formats:
    • 2 boards 0.25″ thick (4″ × 4″)
    • 4 plates 0.50″ thick (2 blank)
    • 2 plates 0.75″ thick
    • 2 plates 1.00″ thickness
    • 2 plates 1.50″ thick
    • 2 pipe segments approx. 6″ Sch40 (~0.280″ wall) with 180° coverage
    • 2 pipe segments approx. 8″ Sch40 (~0.280″ wall) with 90° coverage

  • Total defects: 14 pcs. (one per sample except for blanks)

  • Measures of defect depth: varying, typically ¼ T, ½ T and ¾ T (where T is the thickness)

  • Weight: ~65 lbs (≈ 29.5 kg)

Areas of application

  • Training and qualification for thickness measurement and corrosion evaluation in the oil & gas sector

  • Verification and calibration of UT thickness measurement equipment

  • Practical exercises in identifying and measuring corrosion damage and material loss

  • Use in courses, certification centers and laboratories
