AWS Structural Weld Seismic Kit

The FlawTech AWS Structural Weld Seismic Kit is a specially designed training kit for ultrasonic testing (UT) of welded structures, developed in accordance with AWS D1.8 Annex F for seismic applications. The kit contains 8 carbon steel specimens, each with 2-3 realistic defects, and is ideal for training and certifying welding technicians and inspectors.
Key features and benefits
Material : A36 or 1018 carbon steel, chosen for its relevance in structural welds.
Defects : Total of 20 defects (2–3 per sample), including both surface and underlying defects.
Defect types : Includes cracks, lack of fusion, and porosity, among others.
Dimensions :
2 pcs. butt welds with V-groove (0.375" and 0.75" thickness, 6" weld length, 8" length)
2 pcs. butt welds with V-groove and backing bar (same dimensions)
2 pcs. tee welds with single groove (0.375" and 0.75" thickness, 6" weld length, 6" main, 7" branch)
2 pcs. tee welds with single groove and backing bar (same dimensions)Tolerance : ±0.080".
Surface treatment : "As welded" condition on both crown and root.
Documentation : Includes Certificate of Conformance, "As Built" CAD drawings, RT inspection film and technical sheet (per ASME Sec.V, Art.2), UT inspection report and certificates for measurement and test equipment.
Transport : Delivered in a rollable and lockable case.
Weight : Approximately 125 lbs (57 kg).
Suitcase dimensions : 24" x 16" x 10" (approx. 61 x 41 x 25 cm).
Areas of application
Training and certification in ultrasonic testing (UT) of structural welds.
Evaluation and calibration of UT equipment and methods.
