JIREH TERAX

JIREH TERAX

The TERAX series from JIREH is a modular crawler platform for automated inspection of ferromagnetic surfaces. It utilizes a “hovering magnet” combined with rubber tracks to move with stable contact without damaging the surface. TERAX is designed for both external and internal inspection systems, including tank walls and internal pipes, and can be equipped with modules for ultrasonic (UT), corrosion scanning and other methods.

The compact design requires minimal clearance, and all models support encoded position data via integrated encoders. Users control the system through remote controls with joysticks and programmable functions.

Products in the TERAX family

TERAX Base Crawler

This is the basic platform in the TERAX series, designed for external inspection of surfaces outside components. It glides over the surface thanks to a “hovering magnet” that does not have direct contact with the steel. With rubber tracks, a low profile (only about 5 inches of clearance) and powerful motors, it can navigate vertically and horizontally. It has removable handles for reduced size, and an integrated coded positioning system provides accurate tracking.

Technical highlights: coded position (encoder), low radial clearance (~13 cm width), maximum payload ~10 kg, operating temperature –20 °C to 50 °C.

TERAX Internal Base Crawler

This model is specially adapted for internal inspection in pipes and tight ducts. It can work inside pipes with diameters as small as 8 inches, thanks to its robust design and flexible rubber tracks that grip the pipe surface. It is operated via remote control and supports additional modules such as a camera (RECON) for visual monitoring during operation.

Technical highlights: minimum pipe diameter 8″, integrated camera support, robust track drive inside the pipe.

TERAX Tank Scanner

The TERAX Tank Scanner is based on the Base Crawler platform, but is optimized for tank and storage vessel inspection. It utilizes a hovering magnet and rubber tracks to traverse welds and irregularities. A unique probe lift mechanism allows the user to lift sensors from the tank wall while the circuits move between inspection zones, protecting the probe equipment during transport. It also features A- and B-scan ultrasound capability and a long umbilical (up to 60 m) for high-altitude inspection.

Technical highlights: umbilical length up to 60 m, automatic probe lift, magnetic traction with stability on welds and transitions.
