MR-158 GF

MR-158 GF

MR 158-R GF is a fluorescent yellow-green magnetic powder suspension designed for wet magnetic powder inspection (MPI). The suspension has very high sensitivity, designed to detect the smallest surface and light subsurface defects in ferromagnetic materials. The product is part of MR Chemie's ECO-Line, and combines water as a carrier liquid with necessary additives for better dispersion, corrosion protection and reduced background signal.

Key features and benefits

  • Fluorescent indications under UV light, yellow-green color that provides strong visibility.

  • Water-based suspension – safer and easier to use and handle than many oil-based alternatives.

  • High sensitivity – suitable for very fine weld cracks, tears, surface inclusions and small defects.

  • Particle size approx. 1-3 µm , for good resolution and detailed indication.

  • The suspension includes additives such as corrosion inhibitors, antifoams and wetting agents to ensure better application properties.

  • ECO-Line properties: free of halogens, nitrites and silicones; no unpleasant odor; no flammable propellants in aerosol version.

Technical specifications

  • Particle size: approx. 1–3 µm

  • Indication type: fluorescent yellow-green under UV light

  • Method of use: wet method for magnetic powder testing (suspension in water)

  • Temperature range during use: approx. +5 °C to +52 °C

  • Storage temperature: approx. +5 °C to +45 °C

  • Sedimentation volume: approx. 0.2–0.4 ml per 100 ml after 30 minutes (when diluted 10–20 ml/L water)

  • Standards and approvals: meets ASTM E1444/E1444M, EN ISO 9934-2, ASME Code V Art. 7, RCC-M and more

Areas of application

  • Fine measurement of cracks and defects both on the surface and just below the surface in steel and other ferromagnetic materials.

  • When high visual contrast under UV light is required, for example in welding areas, ground or polished surfaces.

  • Factory inspections, field inspections and quality control where wet magnetic powder testing is used.

  • Areas where background signal must be low and indications must be clear.
