Pro-MAM Biopsy
Pro-MAM Biopsy is a quality control phantom developed for digital mammography with biopsy capability. It is designed to provide a quick and easy method for testing image quality on digital biopsy mammography devices, and is designed to contribute to approval according to the American College of Radiology (ACR) requirements.
Key features and benefits
Compact size allows the phantom to be exposed in a single image on digital biopsy mammography units, both upright and prone ("upright and prone machine").
Contains test objects similar to those found in the mammographic accreditation phantom, including fibers, microcalcifications, and tumor-like masses.
Extended edge/top allows easier positioning in prone biopsy mode.
CE certified and built for routine technical quality control (TQC) for digital biopsy mammography systems.
Technical specifications
Dimensions: approx. 80 × 70 × 46 mm .
Simulated breast thickness: 42 mm compressed breast with average glandular/adipose composition.
Test items include:
Nylon fibrils with diameters ≈ 0.93 mm, 0.74 mm, 0.54 mm and 0.32 mm.
Microcalcifications (Al₂O₃) with diameters ≈ 0.54 mm, 0.32 mm, 0.24 mm and 0.20 mm.
Tumor-like masses thicknesses ≈ 1.00 mm, 0.75 mm, 0.50 mm, 0.25 mm.Standards/Setup: Compliant with IEC 61223-3-2 and designed for use on digital biopsy mode devices.
Areas of application
Technical quality assurance (QA) of digital biopsy mammography devices — verification that the device delivers sufficient resolution, contrast, and detail reproduction in biopsy mode.
Documentation and qualification in connection with mammography systems' accreditation and control programs, especially for systems with biopsy function.
Maintenance and service programs in radiology departments that want repeatable and standardized tests for musculoskeletal image quality in mammography.
