Pro-MRI Agar

Pro-MRI Agar

Pro-MRI Agar is a specially designed quality assurance phantom from Diagnomatic for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The phantom consists of a cylinder filled with agar gel that has T1 and T2 characteristics analogous to a human head, and is designed to measure stability, signal-to-noise (SNR), drift and other parameters over time-series recordings (e.g. 100–200 volume scans).

Key features and benefits

  • Agar-gel with T1 ≈ 900 ms and T2 ≈ 30 ms at 3 T provides realistic MR signal conditions without motion or variance.

  • Stable cylinder construction (PMMA) with synthetic medium makes it ideal for repeatable and long-term QA measurements.

  • Suitable for measurements such as: signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), signal-fluctuation-to-noise ratio (SFNR), drift over time (temporal stability) – useful for quality control in MRI environments.

  • Complies with several international standards for MRI-QA: including the American College of Radiology (ACR) MRI Accreditation Program, the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) Report 80, and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Reports 28, 34, and 100.

Technical specifications

  • Cylinder diameter (external): approx. 140 mm .

  • Cylinder height (external): approx. 150 mm .

  • Material: PMMA (acrylic) cylinder with agar-gel filling.

  • Gel properties at 3 T: T1 ≈ 900 ms, T2 ≈ 30 ms.

  • Certification: CE marked.

Areas of application

  • Daily or periodic quality control in MRI laboratories to ensure consistent image quality and system performance.

  • Longitudinal studies of system stability where signal drift over time is critical.

  • Institutions that want documentation for accreditation or certification according to MRI-QA standards.
