Probes and accessories, eddy current
Pencil Probes from ETher NDE are specially designed eddy-current probes for surface inspection of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The series includes both standard “Absolute” versions and “Bridge/IB-Tech-Inside” versions with improved signal-to-noise ratio for demanding applications.
Key features and benefits
Suitable for high-frequency surface inspection (e.g. 200 kHz, 500 kHz, 2 MHz, 6 MHz) – provides flexibility for different material types and defect sizes.
Double shielding (outer stainless steel + inner ferrite) reduces ground effect and improves signal tolerance at edges and metal surfaces.
Ergonomic design with plastic handle and neoprene grip for reduced operator fatigue and more reliable inspection.
Quick replacement and flexible configuration: different tip lengths, angles (straight, 90°, 45°, 15°), and can be adapted to the customer's specific application.
Large inventory for fast delivery – reduces downtime in the inspection process.
Technical highlights
Frequency selection: 200 kHz (50-600 kHz), 500 kHz (150 kHz-1.5 MHz), 2 MHz (650 kHz-6 MHz), 6 MHz (2 MHz-18 MHz) for high resolution.
Tip lengths from 28 mm up to 219 mm + total length up to 305 mm for some models.
Choose between “Fine Tip” variant (smaller diameter tip) for high-resolution inspection and standard for general use.
Micro connector for standard models; Lemo 4-Way connector for IB/Bridge versions with internal balance (“InBal”) technology.
Areas of application
Surface inspection in production and maintenance where defects such as cracks, tears, corrosion damage or metallurgical variations must be detected.
Applications in aviation, oil & gas, metal production, transportation and general metallic components.
Field use and workshop inspection where flexibility in probe selection and quick changeover are necessary.
Certification and control programs where traceability and customization are critical.
