Dakota NDT CX Series
The Dakota CX series consists of ultrasonic thickness gauges designed for accurate measurement of material thickness and sound velocity in a variety of materials. Designed for both bare and coated surfaces, they combine high precision, multiple measurement modes and large storage capacity, making the series ideal for corrosion monitoring and preventive maintenance.
Key features and benefits
Measures both surface and through paint/coating up to approximately 2 mm with Echo-Echo ThruPaint™
Multiple measurement modes, including Pulse Echo, Echo Echo and Velocity Mode
Adjustable measurement speed with up to 16 readings per second, allowing rapid coverage of large areas
Preset material types and ability to save your own calibrations
Audible and visual alarms for limit values, allowing quick assessment of material condition
User-friendly display with multiple display options such as statistics, graph, difference mode and curve view
High storage capacity with up to 100,000 readings and 1,000 batches
Technical highlights
The Dakota CX can measure thicknesses from approximately 0.63 mm to 500 mm in Pulse Echo mode, and from approximately 2.54 mm to 20 mm in Echo Echo ThruPaint mode. It covers a sound velocity range of approximately 1,250 to 10,000 m/s, with accuracy down to ±0.1 mm on thin materials and ±0.5% on thicker materials. The instrument is robustly built, reliable in temperatures from –10°C to +50°C, and powered by two AA batteries that provide up to 28 hours of use with lithium cells.
Areas of application
Corrosion monitoring in pipes, tanks and steel structures
Inspection of surfaces with paint or other coatings
Maintenance and quality control within oil & gas, shipping, process industry and chemical industry
Inspection tasks that require high accuracy and documentable data storage
