Magnetix MGN 3.0

Magnetix MGN 3.0

The Magnetix MGN 3.0 is a portable, battery-powered AC yoke system designed for magnetic particle inspection (MPI) in demanding field environments. It combines high safety (low operating voltage) with strong magnetic performance, good ergonomics and long operating time, making it ideal for inspections of pipes, welds, high-mounted components and other inaccessible areas.

Key features and benefits

  • Operates on 42 V AC (50/60 Hz) , which reduces the risk of electric shock and makes it safe for use in metal environments.

  • Long operating time: up to 8 hours per battery set at 25% duty cycle, and approximately 4 hours with continuous intensive use (50%).

  • Lifting force of ~ 6 kg at pole spacing of 11 cm, which exceeds the minimum requirements of many inspector standards.

  • IP protection: IP54 , which provides weather and dust resistance during field work.

  • Ergonomic design with belt solution and slim driver module, making it easy to work in tight spaces and for extended periods.

  • Robust mechanical construction: 6061 aluminum alloy monoblock and IP-rated connector (IP68/metal), providing high reliability.

  • Uses a smart microcontroller that controls duty cycle and monitors system status, with LED indicators for status, error messages, etc.

  • Additional accessories: optional dual-spectrum LED light (white or UV-A) can be mounted directly on the yoke poles.

Technical specifications

  • Operating voltage : 42 V AC 50/60 Hz

  • Input voltage : 18 V DC

  • Battery pack : 2 × Li-ion (3 Ah typical)

  • Charging time : Approx. 1 h with dual charger / 2 h with single charger

  • Lifting force : ~6 kg at 11 cm pole distance

  • Magnetic field strength : > 2000 A/m at 16.5 cm (tangential)

  • Duty cycle : 50%, controlled by microcontroller

  • IP rating : IP54

  • Weight (without case) : approx. 5 kg

Areas of application

  • Mobile and safe magnetic particle inspection in the field, especially where access to power is limited.

  • Inspection of welds, pipes, ladders, scaffolding and other areas where flexibility and freedom of movement are critical.

  • NDT checks in high voltage environments or metal structures where low voltage provides extra safety.

  • Use in inspection teams with requirements for long operating times and reliable performance.
